Along the quay Packhuskajen in central Gothenburg lies Maritiman, a floating museum featuring nine historic vessels from different eras, each with its own purpose and story.
Here, you can climb high above deck and venture deep below the surface. Step inside the submarine Nordkaparen, hear the bell of the destroyer Jagaren Småland ring out, and admire the elegant bow of the lightship Fladen.
The vessels are moored side by side, making it easy to step aboard and explore them at your own pace. Furthest out towards the river lies the destroyer Jagaren Småland, the largest preserved naval vessel of its kind in Scandinavia. Closer to the quay, you’ll find the harbour tug Storm Princess and the fireboat Flodsprutan II, among others. A visit to Maritiman offers a vivid insight into Gothenburg’s maritime heritage.
For younger visitors
For the youngest sailors, the mascot Virvelina is ready with treasure hunts and playful adventures, while Tim invites children to join the Sea Lab and take part in experiment shows. In the Sea Lab, visitors learn about the ocean, life at sea and the fragile marine environment through eleven hands-on stations.
