The Museum of Mölndal is a cultural history museum located right next to the rapids in the old industrial area Kvarnbyn. The location is just a 15-minute walk from central Mölndal, which you can easily get to by bus, train or tram from Gothenburg.
The museum is admission free and open all year round. In Öppna magasinet (the Open Storage) nostalgic everyday items are mixed with photos, stories and thought-provoking questions. The exhibition Lyx från Lindome (Luxury from Lindome) shows a collection of chairs and other pieces or furniture from the 18th to the 20th century. Learn about the craft and get inspired. Aside from the permanent exhibitions you always find a current temporary exhibition.
The building, which once was a stocking factory, also houses a shop and a cosy café. The shop has an affordable and carefully selected range of goods with a sustainable profile. Forscaféet serves both lunch and coffee, in what used to be the factory kitchen.
Do not miss out on the museum’s digital tour and experience ENTER Mölndal – Kvarnbyn, where you can take part of voices and stories from different times. The guided tour takes about 40 minutes and all you need is a smartphone and headphones. The tour is available in both English and Swedish, and you can find more information on the museum’s website or at entermolndal.se.
