Artwork created by the artist Rubin in 2021 within the art project Artscape, as a part of Gothenburg’s 400th anniversary celebrations.

Rubin is an artist who grew up in Bergsjön in Gothenburg. Now he’s living and working in New York.

– A lot of the things that were drawbacks when I was younger, like growing up in Bergsjön and doing graffiti, is what turned out to be really good for me. Back then I thought the concrete was ugly; now I can see the beauty in it. And I realise that I’m also influenced by my Finnish roots like Alvar Aalto’s furniture and Marimekko patterns, Rubin tells the newspaper Göteborgs-Posten (in Swedish).
