Sällskapet Ångbåten was formed in 1965 with the aim of preserving the steamer Ångaren BOHUSLÄN, which was then threatened with demolition, delivered in 1914 and the last passenger steamer on the West Coast. By selling initial shares of 100 SEK to the public, they managed to collect the 60,000 SEK that was needed to buy the ship. The formal owner is now Ångbåten Ekonomisk Förening(ÅEF). After intensive refurbishment work, the steamer returned to its old waters the following summer. Since then, Ångaren BOHUSLÄN has sailed every summer.

Sällskapet Ångbåten
Sällskapet Ångbåten owns and operates summer boat traffic with the steamboat Ångaren Bohuslän. It is the west coast’s last archipelago steamer and Sweden’s largest steam-powered ship in regular operation – a living ship museum. Bohuslän runs both evening trips in the Gothenburg archipelago and longer trips to various islands and ports up north.
