At Universeum science centre, you can explore science, technology and mathematics by actively taking part in a wide range of exhibitions, experiences and activities. children, young people and adults learn about everything from atoms and artificial intelligence to ecosystems and equations– while having plenty of fun along the way.
Ten floors and eleven different exhibitions
Spread across Universeum’s ten floors are eleven themed exhibition areas.
In the tropical Rainforest, you’ll encounter an abundance of plants and animals in a warm, humid environment, while The Wilderness explores the species found in Sweden’s two climate zones. The Ocean zone takes you beneath the surface, where you can see sharks and fish from oceans around the world. The Reptilarium is home to a unique collection of venomous snakes and lizards, while the exhibition Space is an exciting area with 40 different stations where you can explore the universe.
Elsewhere at the science centre, you can discover the human body in Humans, challenging yourself with both physical activities and mental puzzles. Mathrix features interactive stations where you can play and experiment with mathematics. In Vislab, real research data and advanced visualisation are used to make complex questions easier to understand. The Chemistry lab is a fully equipped laboratory where you can experiment under the guidance of an educator or guide. For younger explorers, Miniverseum combines play and learning.
Universeum also offers a varied programme of shows, guided tours and activities, so there is always something new to discover.
Travel through time and space at Wisdome
At the top of the building, you’ll find Wisdome Gothenburg, Sweden’s largest visualisation dome. Audiences are surrounded by a 443-square-metre projection surface with 360-degree visuals and advanced sound. Using state-of-the-art visualisation technology, you can travel to places that would otherwise be impossible to reach, from the age of the dinosaurs and the depths of the ocean to galaxies far beyond our own.
Shows are available in both 2D and 3D and combine science with advanced visualisation. Wisdome can be booked as part of your visit to Universeum or as a separate experience.
In the heart of Gothenburg’s event district
Universeum is located at the hub Korsvägen in Gothenburg’s event district, next to Liseberg and within easy walking distance of attractions and venues including World of Volvo, Scandinavium and the Swedish Exhibition & Congress Centre.
The science centre is open all year round and has a restaurant, café and shop selling educational books, games, experiments and toys.
