Cryo sauna

Vauk

At Vauk in Hovås you can boost your health with a trendy cryotherapy treatment in minus 85 degrees. The method is said to increase your wellbeing and speed up the body’s recovery.

At Vauk in Hovås you’ll enter a Nordic spa setting and leave feeling relaxed, energised and focused. The Vauk method starts with a relaxing breathing exercise, then you’ll enter the “cryo sauna” – a cold sauna where the temperature is minus 85 degrees – for a few minutes. The routine ends with another breathing exercise and a warm-up phase in the lounge with a nice cup of tea.

The cryo technique was developed in Japan in 1978 by Dr. Toshiro Yamauchi as a way to treat rheumatoid arthritis. The researchers were surprised when the studies showed other positive outcomes apart from the pain relief and during the past ten years the cryo technique has spread all over the world. The treatment is claimed to give an energy boost, activate the immune system, relieve pain in muscles and joints, halt inflammation, lower stress levels and improve sleep.
