Cielo, Hotel Bellora

Named one of the top 5 rooftops in the world by hotels.com, Bellora’s rooftop Cielo (‘heaven’ in Italian) certainly lives up to its reputation. Cuddle up in one of the couch sections, or venture closer to the edge to enjoy spectacular views of the main boulevard Avenyn and beyond. Skansen Kronan, Sahlgrenska University Hospital and Masthuggskyrkan are some of the landmarks to look for.

Want to maximise the panorama? This hotel terrace stretches across two sides of the building, providing loads of sunny hours and city views in three directions. Radisson Blu Riverside Hotel

Looking for a change of perspectives? Head to the “other” side of the river and the rooftop terrace at Radisson Blu Riverside in the Lindholmen area. It comes with a hot tub, sun chairs, occasional barbecue parties and breathtaking views of the river. Pretty cool, right? You normally need to pay a fee to get in here, but during the summer there are plenty of events with free entrance, so keep an eye on their Facebook page. And check out their after work 'Sunny Thursdays, now also on Fridays' (yep, every Thursday and Friday!)

Looking for a classic pub? We’ll double that and give you two options! Grab a pint and/or something to eat on one of John Scott’s cozy terraces, either on the main boulevard Avenyn or on Kyrkogatan. Henriksberg

Once an upscale fine dining restaurant, Henriksberg has turned to the younger crowds with a mix of various rock, pop and salsa clubs. Climb the stairs all the way up to enjoy spectacular views of the river Göta Älv, the bridge Älvsborgsbron and the island Hisingen – and perhaps a bite from the barbecue menu? If you get tired of watching the panorama, there are plenty of pool tables, shuffleboards and other games to enjoy downstairs.

Taket, OGBG

Hotel magnate’s Petter Stordalens Stenpiren edition comes, of course, with a rooftop boasting longer sun hours than most. Here you can enjoy views of the river Göta älv and the typical red cranes reminiscent of the time when Gothenburg was still a town of ships and dockyards. There is always something going on here – everything from dj:s of different genres, visiting breweries and even yoga sessions! Keep track on their Facebook page for an updated schedule.

Clarion Hotel Post

Yes, there are pool clubs in Gothenburg! And some of them even on a rooftop, like this one on the 13th floor of Clarion Hotel Post, which can be accessed by non-hotel guests during the summer months. The fee is 200 SEK for a day pass (1pm–5pm) and from 6pm–10pm the entrance is free, read more about how to make a reservation here.
