Sometimes you just want put on your running shoes, head out the door and go running. And why not? It’s a great way to discover a city. Scenic morning jog – approx. 4 km
Pass through the beautiful garden society of Gothenburg, run along the river Göta Älv and sprint next to the canal as Gothenburg wakes up around you. Download PDF map of the route.
Inner city jogging approx. 5 km
Run through the park Kungsparken on your way towards Linné and eventually the square Järntorget. On your way back you’ll jog past the neighbourhood Rosenlund as you make your way in to the shopping district around the streets Magsinsgatan and Kungsgatan, before finishing your run outside the magnificent theatre Stora Teatern. Slottsskogen jog – approx. 2.5 km
Slottskogen is a favourite spot among locals and the perfect place for a run. There are plenty of paths and roads to take, but if you want to follow our suggested route you’ll start at Linnéplatsen, round the pond Stora Dammen and pass the big playground Plikta on your way back. There are two outdoor gyms near the playground that are free to use. Download PDF map of the route.
Lindholmen jog – approx. 3 km
Lindholmen is one of many areas in Gothenburg where the city is rapidly expanding. It’s also a place where you can go running with a beautiful view of the river Göta Älv. The route starts at Hotel Radisson Blu Riverside and takes you to Sannegårdshamnen by way of Lindholmspiren before a turn brings you back to the start. Download PDF map of the route
Ullevi jog – approx. 3 km
Pass Gothenburg landmarks Gothia Towers and Liseberg Amusement Park and then turn and follow the stream Mölndalsån all the way to the Ullevi arena. Go around the iconic arena and run back through the park Burgårdsparken. You’ll pass the Scandinavium arena and by then you’re almost back at the start. Download PDF map of the route
Running paths and trails
Skatås is located just east of the Gothenburg city centre and is one of the city’s main athletic centres. Situated in a beautiful natural area, the centre includes beach volley courts, a frisbee golf court, football fields and excellent running trails.
There are several paths to run, the ones measuring 2.5 km, 5 km and 8 km are lighted. There are also two trails measuring 10 km and 18 km. A detailed view of the paths and trails can be found here.
Start your run by going to Skatås Motionscenter at the address Skatåsvägen 25. The closest tram stop is Welandergatan.
Sisjön is a beautiful natural area with several paths and trails to explore. The area hosts the annual race Sisjöloppet, a 14 km route that takes your around the lakes Sisjön and Oxsjön. It’s a nice route that can, of course, be run at any time and not just during the race. Get a detailed view of the route here.

Enter the area by way of Sisjövägen and pass the Sisjö scout cabin. If you’re travelling by public transport, bus 83 and 84 will take you to the edge of the natural area. Get off at the stop Askims Svartmosse.
Mossens Athletic Centre is located on the Chalmes University of Technology Campus and contains football fields, tennis courts and a running track. There’s also a running path circling the area that measures roughly 1.45 km. The nearest bus stop is Mossen.
Änggårdsbergen is a natural area and nature reserve that offers excellent trail running. The varied and hilly terrain can be challenging but the view when you get to the top is definitely worth the effort. There are no official routes or sign posted trails to follow, but there are plenty of community uploaded runs to serve as inspiration on websites such as funbeat.se.
You can enter Änggårdsbergen through the Botanical garden of Gothenburg or just follow the street Thorild Wulffsgatan. The closest tram stop to Änggårdsbergen is Botaniska trädgården.
