Frihamnen, the free-port, is both a new and an old part of the city, located right in the heart of Gothenburg. The old shipbuilding industry and port operations give the area its historical setting, while at the same time a new neighbourhood takes shape among hangars, piers and cranes.
The Frihamnen area at Hisingen, just across the river from the city centre, is still characterized by the old ship building industry. In the midst of old containers and cranes a whole new area is emerging. Since February 2015 you can try Swedish sauna here, right in the city centre.
Since summer 2015, the people of Gothenburg have a new favorite place to cool off on hot days. The pool is located in Frihamnen, on the Hisingen side of the river Göta Älv. It is 20 meters long, 8 meters wide and open to all who want to take a dip.

Martin Strömberg, born and raised on the Swedish West Coast, is sailing aboard the Dongfeng boat and will be greeted by thousands of Gothenburgers in the Free Port Frihamnen this summer.
