Kungstorget has been Göteborg's largest market place since the mid 19th century. In 1850 a semi-circle row of market stalls was built around the side of Kungstorget closest to the water and in 1889, the rest was completed making Stora Saluhallen, designed by Hans Hedlund, a famous architect. The row of market stalls was torn down in the 60s, but it's business as usual in Stora Saluhallen and Kungstorget.
