From Heavy Metal to Opera

On February 7–8, Melodifestivalen, the Swedish competition for Eurovision Song Contest, enters Scandinavium. It's one of the most anticipated musical events of the year, and you can choose between the rehearsals on Friday, the matinee on Saturday and the live broadcast on Saturday night.

Into some heavier tunes? Don't miss out when Norwegian black metal legend Abbath visits Trädgår'n on February 14.

The Göteborg Opera offers a new interpretation of the musical Oliver! and Puccini's classical opera La Bohème.

Friendship and Lovable Art

Younger visitors will love Alfie Atkins' Cultural Centre, especially during Valentine's week. February 8–March 1 is Friendship Week at Alfie's place, with two theatrical performances presented daily. Who's saving Alfons Åberg? is about the importance of friendships. You can also speed up your heart in jumpy disco dancing or a hearty singsong. This is in addition to the regular program featuring story times, balloon folding, and more.

Planning to tie the knot? Do your research at Gunnebo's Wedding Event on February 14.

Talk about love through art at Gothenburg Musuem of Art! Together with the museum guide, you will admire works from different periods and discuss the ever-changing concept of love.

Göteborg Natural History Museum stays open late at night on February 13 for a deep dive into the sea. The museum's marine biologist Kennet Lundin presents expected, and not so expected, examples of sex life beneath the surface.

Romantic Spots in Gothenburg

From the tranquil archipelago to the tropical Palmhouse and the quaint streets of Haga, Gothenburg is without a doubt a romantic place to visit. In addition to that, there is a new light-up heart in the city. The Instgram-friendly figue is located at Lejontrappan, next to Brunnsparken, and has become a popular spot to eternalise with a photo. 

We asked the people of Gothenburg and visitors to share their favourite spots around the city. We added a couple of our own favourites and created a guide to Romantic spots in Gothenburg.
