Röda Sten does not only sport an exciting art gallery, but also one of Gothenburg’s most sought-after outdoor seating areas. Seaside Food & Fun at Maritiman

At Maritiman, you can sit down by Göta älv – quite literally. In summer, Seaside Food & Fun opens on the museum’s weather-protected pontoon, right in the middle of Maritiman’s floating ship setting. Come here for food and drinks with views of the harbour, the vessels and life along the quay – no museum ticket required.

The outdoor seating area is open daily 24 June–4 August and stays open longer than the museum on summer evenings. On selected nights, the pontoon also hosts live music, quizzes, poetry and other events. Check Maritiman’s calendar for current opening hours and events before you go.

This summer, Nefertiti’s courtyard becomes Summer Garden – an open-air terrace in the middle of Gothenburg. Inspired by European beer garden culture, it is a relaxed place for warm evenings, spontaneous meet-ups and the sense that something is always happening. Expect food, cold drinks, music, daytime parties, quizzes, themed nights, live acts and DJs, along with social activities such as table tennis, cornhole and basketball games. Summer Garden runs from 11 June to 15 August, with new events and happenings added throughout the season.
