1. Hagabadet

Hagabadet is a favourite among locals and visitors alike. Its history stretches back to the late 19th century and since undergoing extensive renovations in the mid-ninties, Hagabadet has offered spa, saunas, massages, gym facilities and more, all in a unique setting. Hagabadet has two other locations in Gothenburg, one on the island of Hisingen and one near Drottningtorget in the city centre.

2. Arken Spa

The road to Arken will take you past the harbour of Gothenburg, one of the largest and most important harbours in northern Europe, but perhpas not what you think of when you picture relaxation. Do not worry. As soon as you get to Arken you will be met by a beautiful art garden spa, ocean views, and a lovely restaurant. Stay for the day or check in for a couple of nights!

3. Sankt Jörgen Park

Sankt Jörgen Park has a lot to offer, from activities such as golf and padel to restaurants and bars, but it is the spa that steals the show. Several different saunas, “floating” lounge beds, treatments and so much more. It is relaxation at its best.

4. Upper House Spa

Do you find it hard to choose between serenity and city pulse? Head to Upper House and you don’t have to choose! You will be relaxing in the city centre but with the sounds of the city 20 storeys below you. Go sit in the outdoor jacuzzi with the glass floor, if you dare, and enjoy a spectactular view of Gothenburg. Want to stay over? You are in luck, Upper House Hotel and Gothia Towers are two fantastic options.

5. Riverton Spa

Hotel Riverton recently underwent extensive renovations and now offers an amazing spa. Relax and rejuvenate in the wonderful serenity spa before heading out to the bars and restaurants of Linnéstaden, just a short walk away!

Bonus tip: Vauk cryo sauna

Follow the lead of Lebron James, Lewis Hamilton and other famous athletes and try a freezing cryo treatment. In Hovås in western Gothenburg you’ll find Vauk who developed their own treatment based on breathing techniques, a cold sauna (minus 85 degrees!) and a warm-up phase. They claim the treatment boosts your body, strenghtens your immune system and improves your sleep, among other things.
